I recently completed the online VALS (values and lifestyles) evaluation. It gives you a multitude of questions and asks you to gauge your answer in the typical fashion. At the end, you are placed in two of eight categories, and given a brief description of what this means about you.
I was evaluated to be in the primary group of the "Striver". As a striver, I apparently have high revolving employment, suggesting I have a hard time holding a job, but also have no problem finding a new one. Being a student, I tend to only work in summer, so I suppose this could ring true. I use video games as a form of fantasy. This is certainly true. I spend lots of time playing Dungeons and Dragons as well as other role playing games like Final Fantasy and the Elder Scrolls. I find it hard to not get immersed in these worlds and almost live my life more in fantasy than in reality. I'm fun loving. ;) I'm imitative. Not only do I act a lot, but my life tends to be a bit of a performance. I love to imitate my favourite characters from fantasy. I rely heavily on public transit. I don't have my license and don't plan on getting it anytime soon. The bus can be a fun experience. I'm the centre of "low-status street culture". I'm not quite sure what they mean by this, but I'll assume that it's a good thing. I desire to better my life but have difficulty bringing that into fruition. I spend a lot of time fantasising about how my life will be someday, but I do far more day dreaming than action towards such dreams. And I wear my wealth. That I do. I enjoy adorning myself with jewelry and have my many different outfits that I love to show myself off in. I strive to be the centre of attention, and I wouldn't want to be caught in the spotlight looking like a plebian.
I found this test very accurate. But like many online tests of its kind, it's easy to be accurate when you are as vague as the VALS results. Despite this, it was still a fun little thing to do that only took a few minutes.
This has been your lord and master, Matheson. Stay classy, my heathens, and keep on striving, my fellow strivers.
